The four days of nonstop talking, no eating, no sleeping and hearing plenty of extraordinary musical talent that is known as the annual East Coast Music Awards is finally over. It was a particularly good event this year and not just because Joel and the Emergency lads took home awards for Single of the Year, DVD of the Year and Songwriter of the Year, although that was very nice too… But there’s no rest for the winners…
Joel is off immediately for the North American Folk Alliance in Memphis, Tennessee and from there will board the plane to Australia’s sunny shores. Dave and Chris will be leaving from Halifax. It turns out that their stay in Oz has been extended until early April due to the great demand for tickets to their upcoming tour with Augie March. We’ll update those tour dates just as soon as they’re finalized but we do know they’ll now be playing the Great Escape Festival in Sydney on the Easter long weekend, along with Wolfmother, Gomez, The Vines, Feist, Augie March and a whack of other bands.
In the meantime, the new single, Fashionable People, from the soon-to-be-released (April 17th) Ashtray Rock, is at radio so feel free to bug them if you’re not hearing it or not hearing it enough…
