CHARTattack: Halifax Pop Explosion Day Five

Plaskett arrived earlier in the day from Dallas and was wearing a turquoise cowboy-style dress shirt. He was quick to give thanks to the organizers of the festival for inviting him to play, as it was 15 years ago when his beloved teenage band Thrush Hermit first took the stage here.

Plaskett dipped into the back catalogue — including songs from Down At The Khyber, In Need Of Medical Attention and Clayton Park — and eventually launched into tracks from Ashtray Rock, his 2007 Polaris Music Prize-nominated album, halfway through the set. His father, Bill Plaskett, joined him on guitar for “Soundtrack For The Night” and the latest album’s title track.
