Off The Wall Telefilm Series

Joel Plaskett of Dartmouth is one of the Canadian personalities featured in a series of six new Telefilm Canada videos.

The two-minute videos in the Off the Wall social media series feature thoughts on Canadian cinema by Olympic bronze medallist figure skater Joannie Rochette, radio and television host Anne-Marie Withenshaw, blogger Elaine (Lainey) Lui, novelist Yann Martel, video-game-show host Victor Lucas and musician, songwriter and producer Plaskett.

“Like all of us, they have a special relationship with Canadian film: childhood memories, funny stories or characters they identify with,” Carolle Brabant, executive director of Telefilm Canada, said in a news release.

“By generously sharing their anecdotes, they can encourage Canadians to revisit homegrown classics or discover new movies. Telefilm’s aim with promotional initiatives like this is to engage more Canadian consumers via social media.”

The videos with Rochette and Plaskett are online.

In the video, four-time Juno Award-winner Plaskett talks about his love of Canadian comedy such as SCTV, The Kids in the Hall and Martin Short, and reveals one of his favourite Canadian films is Goin’ Down the Road.
