In the annals of Canadian music history, Thrush Hermit were a blip on the radar in a decade ruled by Céline, Alanis, Shania, the Hip and the Barenaked Ladies. But to those who followed the Halifax band between 1992 and 1999, they were the coolest thing in Canada.

In 1999, Halifax rock band Thrush Hermit released their final album, Clayton Park. Well-regarded upon release for its ambitious alchemy of anthemic hooks and 70s-inspired riffage, the album has since gained a reputation as a classic of its era.
To celebrate Clayton Park’s twenty-year anniversary, the album will be issued on Record Store Day for the first time as a gatefold double-vinyl package via New Scotland Records.
Coinciding with this release, original members Rob Benvie, Cliff Gibb, Ian McGettigan, and Joel Plaskett will be briefly reforming for a limited run of shows in October 2019. For a band renowned for its raucous live performances,

This is Plaskett’s second songwriting award this year—he nabbed an ECMA in May. “The Songwriter award is a special honour and in my heart I share it with my friend, Matthew Grimson, who we lost this year,” says Plaskett. “Matthew was the most prolific songwriter I’ve ever known.
