Busy, busy, busy… and then it's New Year's Eve!

It’s been a busy month for Joel and the Emergency Band and it looks like things are going to get busier!

The Keith’s birthday bash at Alderney Landing in Dartmouth earlier in October was a smashing success – a beautiful night after a very sketchy afternoon – and somewhere in the neighbourhood of 7000 fans rocking out.

This weekend saw a completely different kind of rocking out as Joel took the stage at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium during the Halifax Pop Explosion to play a sold out show with Symphony Nova Scotia. If you weren’t one of the lucky ones in the building, you missed a truly special night.

The good news – for those of you who missed that one – is that the band has made the decision to continue its tradition of New Year’s Eve shows at the Marquee Club in Halifax. In fact, the band will be doing two shows over the long weekend!

On Saturday, December 30th, the Emergency will be doing an all-ages show – the biggest one they’ve ever done in Halifax. Tickets are $15 in advance and the show gets underway at 8 PM. Support act will be announced shortly.

On Sunday, December 31st, New Year’s Eve itself, they’ll turn in their 19+ show packed with the usual surprises (will anyone forget last year’s spontaneous Thrush Hermit reunion?). Doors for this show will be at 9 PM and support will be announced as soon as they’re lined up.

Tickets for both these shows will be on sale at retail outlets in Halifax in the next couple of weeks but you can buy them on-line right now!

If I were you, I’d get on it. Last year’s event sold out well in advance and we don’t want crying, begging people at the door this time around.

Joel and the lads will have just gotten out of the studio after recording their new effort with producer Gordie Johnson (Make a Little Noise) again at the helm so I’m sure they’ll have lots of new material to play for you as you ring in the New Year. What else would you rather be doing on NYE than celebrating with the JPE!?!
